What is the project
To prevent environmental damage is one of the main attributions of the Public Ministry, alongside reparation and repression. Investing in biodiversity conservation projects is one of the main strategies adopted by the Boticário Foundation Group (FGB) to ensure the social well-being of this and future generations. Based on these institutional functions, the Latin American Network of Environmental Public Ministry, in partnership with the Neotropical Foundation of Brazil, prepared the project for the training of the Public Ministry in conservation strategies, which was approved in the 2014 Notice for FGB Programs Support. The project aims to sensitize and empower the Public Ministry in conservation activities, especially Conservation Units (UCs) and Payment for Environmental Services (PSA).The 36 months project contemplates the elaboration of two technical manuals in UCs and PSA, the realization of six workshops in the states of RS, SP, RJ, MG, AC and AM, and the creation of a website.
Goals
Conservation Unit
It is a typical species of a specially protected area characterized as the "territorial space and its environmental resources, including jurisdictional waters, with relevant natural characteristics, legally established by the Public Authority, with conservation objectives and defined limits, under a special management regime, to which are applied adequated guarantees of protection. "(Article 2, I of Law 9985/00).
Payment for Environmental Services (PSA)
It is the "transactions between two or more parties involving the remuneration of those who promote the conservation, recomposition, increment or management of vegetation´s areas considered apt to provide some environmental services" (NUSDEO, Ana Maria).
I) to sensitize and to empower the Public Ministry in the conservation strategy that uses UCs, seeking to strengthen its management tools and guarantee the resources necessary for these spaces achieve their goals.
II) to sensitize and to empower the Public Ministry in the conservation strategy that PSA is used.

III) to spread knowledge through the inclusion of specialized doctrine in UCs and PSA on the website of the Latin American Network of Environmental Public Ministry, available on the World Wide Web.
Steps
​​​​​​​Production and dissemination of electronic educational material composed of a practical manual about Conservation Units (UCs) and another one about Payment for Environmental Services (PSA).
​​​​​​​It is also an integral part of the action strategy to conduct six workshops in the states of RS, SP, RJ, MG, AM and AC (brazilian states), lasting 8 hours each, addressed to members of the State Public Ministries and staff, weith a four hours training in UCs and 4 hours for PSA training. The practical manuals produced will serve as basis for the training and will be delivered electronically to the workshop participants. Also, these materials will be available on a virtual platform within the website of the Latin American Network of Environmental Public Ministry (REDEMPA).
Multidisciplinary team is the formation of a group where specialists in several areas are reunited allowing a greater exchange and coverage of knowledge, seeking the same goal. Meet the members of the Project.

​​​​​​​She holds a degree in Juridical and Social Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (1991), specialization in Tax Law from the IBET (2000), specialization in Business Law from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2007), and LLM by Pace Law School / NY (2011). She is a lawyer and a consultant in the field of Environmental Law. She also worked as a Technical Coordinator of "State Systems of Payment for Environmental Services Projectâ€, which was developed by the Instituto o Direito por um Planeta Verde.

ROVENA ZANCHET
​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Lawyer, Specialist in National and International Environmental Law from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Master in Social Dynamics, Natural and Technological Risks from the University of Coimbra, currently Legal Advisor of the Operational Support Center for Defense of the Environment of the State Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul, with previous experience at the executive power of the Zoobotanica Foundation (Fundação Zoobotânica), State Secretariat for the Environment and, in the private sector, in the MRS Environmental Studies Company, where, among other activities, she coordinated the elaboration of the Management Plan for the Conservation Unit Delta State Environmental Protection Area JacuÃ.

LUIZ FERNANDO DE SOUZA
He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a Molecular and Functional Cellular Emphasis (2002). Master's (2004) and Doctorate (2008) in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry),from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Grande do Sul. He has experience in the fields of Environment, Forensic Genetics, Immunology and Biochemistry.

GLAUCIA HELENA FERNANDES SEIXAS
​​​​​​​She has a degree in Zootechnic from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1988) and a Master's (2000) and Doctorate´s degree(2009) in Ecology and Conservation from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. She is a volunteer at the Neotropical Foundation of Brazil, where she coordinates since 1997 the True Parrot Project (Amazona aestiva): management and conservation, in the Cerrado and Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul.

Nowdays, he is studying to obtain a Doctorate degree from the University of Coimbra. Professor of Law at the University of Caxias do Sul.

PAOLA PRATES STUMPF
​​​​​​​A biologist graduated from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, she has worked with Conservation Units in the State Secretariat of Environment of Rio Grande do Sul since 2003. She was manager of the Biological Reserve of Serra Geral and the Aratinga State Ecological Station. She has experience in drafting management plans, planning, land regularization and participatory management.
